1. Do one thing at a time.
Single-task, don’t multi-task.
Doing just one thing at a time, gives us time to enjoy what we are doing.
2. Do it slowly & deliberately.
Don’t rush whatever you’re doing. Instead, take your time.
The world wants us to rush, rush, so that we’l be too tired to think!
3. Do less.
Don’t fill your day with too many things. Figure out what’s important, & let go of what’s not.
4. Put space between things.
Don’t rush from one thing to another. After each task that you accomplish, thank Allah, say Alhamdulilah.Without Him, nothing could have been done. Take time to recognise your blessings.
5. Spend at least 5 minutes each day doing nothing.
Just sit in silence. Become aware of your thoughts. Focus on your breathing
Become comfortable with the silence & stillness. It’ll do you a world of good — & just takes 5 minutes! ( perfect time to get these 5 minutes is before or after your salaah when u clear your mind completely)
6. Stop worrying about the future — focus on the present.
Become more aware of your thinking…all you have right now is the present moment. When your mind wanders to the past or future, bring it back to the present.
7. When you’re talking to someone, be present.
Don’t think about something else or think about what we want to say next, instead really listen to that person, focus on being present on really enjoying your time with that person.
Let’s learn from the greatest, busiest man that was created, our beloved Rasulullah sallallaahu alayhi wasallam.
Whenever Rasulullah sallallaahu alayhi wasallam used to speak to anyone, be it a pauper or an elite, he would face the speaker completely & fully with his complete attention.
8. Eat slowly & savor your food.
Recognise what a great bounty it is to eat & to enjoy food. Savor each bite, slowly, & really get the most out of your food. Take the time to say the Sunnah duas & ponder over its meaning. Interestingly, research proves when you eat slowly, you eat less because you digest ur food better & feel fuller faster.
9. Live slowly & savor your life.
Just as you would savor your food by eating it more slowly, do everything this way — slow down & savor each & every moment.
This world was created for you to recognise the signs & favours of اللّه
Subhana Ta’ala. Every moment are opportunities to praise & glorify Him- to say Subhanallah, Alhamdulilah, Allahu Akbar, Masha Allah. yoU can only do this if you live in the moment & feel your experiences.
10. Make what you dislike doing become meditation & a time of Zikr.
Whatever seems like a drudgery to do, practice mindfulness while doing it. Don’t just do it for the sake of getting it done. Use that very same task to bring you closer to اللّه Subhana Ta’ala & to be transformed into rewards for ur Aakhirah. Before beginning that chore, begin with His Name & Bismillah, make the intention that you’re doing it to please your Creator, read zikr throughout, contemplate how fortunate you are that اللّه Subhana Ta’ala has blessed you with the abilities to carry out that task. There’s millions out there who are wishing to be in your exact place.
