Disposing of your children’s clothing

 

Nasihah (Advice): Ayatul Kursi after every Fardh Salaah:

 

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (Radiyallahu Anhu) reports that the Prophet of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “Whoever recites Ayatul Kursi after the Fardh Salaah, the only barrier between him and paradise is death” (Nasai, Hadith #: 9848)

Question and Answer:

 

Q. Kindly advise as to the shar’ee teachings and rulings in the below mentioned

instance:

 

A child cannot use, either by being worned out or physical growth or any other reason, the clothing he/she received as gift

 

1. Are parents allowed to give away those clothes as charity?

 

2. If parents do give it away as charity then are they

(a) obligated to reimburse the child its value in cash;

(b) allowed to replace it with clothing or anything else;

(c) exempted from reimbursing and/or replacing?

Answer: They should reimburse the child with the value of the clothes as they stand presently. Thereafter, they may do whatever they wish with the clothing.
