Istikharah on behalf of someone else

Question and Answer:
Q. My daughter has a boy interested in marriage.She is in the process of reading istikara.She was told that also asking a pious person like a moulana etc to simultaneously make istikara on her behalf would be more effective.Is this true?

A. No. The pious person doing Istikharah on her behalf serves no purpose as Istikharah is a personal matter tied directly to one’s own feelings. She should do Istikharah by herself.
