Jamiat KZN Skills Development Workshop & Empowerment for Women

Skills workshop 2016 UPDATE:

Alhamdo-Lillah, the above programme continues this year at our Welfare offices in Victoria Street with its new group of learners from the following areas, Hammarsdale, Marianhill and Durban CBD.

Delicate embroidery has been recently introduced into the programme and this year more attention will be given to sewing as per needs assessment.

Madrassah classes have also been incorporated into the skills training and most of the lessons are conducted in Zulu.

Counselling continues daily with each learner as well as welfare assistance. Learners are fed daily and each receives a monthly grocery voucher.

This year we are also assisting the Association for the Physically Challenged, who send us women once a week for training.

We continue our collaboration with the Kenilworth Respite Centre, who joins the training sessions whenever they can.

Our senior citizens classes still continues once a week on a Friday, where they are provided with a fresh meal and training as per their needs.

We have not neglected our former graduates, who attend follow up classes once a week so that progress in their acquired skills is monitored and assistance rendered with any challenges they may be facing.

Due to the increase in the number of applicants, wishing to attend the course there is an urgent need to extend the existing workshop area and for more equipment.

We request duas that Allah Ta’ala takes this project from strength to strength and accept the efforts of all involved, Aameen.
