Jumuah Greetings

Nasihah (Advice): The virtue of Jumuah

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam said: “A person who takes a bath on the day of Jumuah, purifies himself as much as he can, applies oil on himself, applies perfume from his house, leaves (the house to go to the Musjid) without separating two people (who are sitting in the row for Salaah), offers the prescribed Salaah, remains silent when the Imaam speaks, then his sins from one Jumuah till the next Jumuah are forgiven.” (Bukhari)

Question and Answer:

  1. Is it permissible to greet another Muslim by saying ‘Jumuah Mubaarak’ or ‘Eid Mubaarak’ on the day of Jumuah and on the day of Eid?

(Question published as received)

  1.  There is no record of the Sahaabah Radhiyallahu anhum regularly greeting each other with these words.

Therefore, it should not be practiced in such a manner or with such regularity that an impression is created that it is Sunnah or compulsory.
