JAMIATUL ULAMA KZN DAILY Q&A
Nasihah (Advice): Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (Radiyallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “Stay away from sins, you will be considered to be one of those who are most comitted to Allah’s worship” (Tirmizi, Hadith #: 2305)
Q. Is permanent makeup permissible for females?
(Query published as received)
A. Permanent makeup is not permissible as it entails tattooing. This is why it is also known as cosmetic tattooing. The Prophet of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) forbade tattooing and cursed the tattooist and the tattooed. The prohibition behind this is that a tattoo entails changing the colour of one’s skin.
“May Allah curse those who tattoo, those who have (their bodies) tattooed, those who have their eyebrows plucked and those who create gaps between their teeth. They are changing what Allah has created. Why should I not curse those whom Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) has cursed whilst it has been recorded in the Qur’an?” (Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith #: 5943)
