PROJECT H.E.L.P. – KHANYANJALO PRIMARY SCHOOL

Realising that malnutrition is a serious problem among children, especially those at primary school level was one of the many reasons why the Jamiatul Ulama KZN launched its local relief initiative named PROJECT H.E.L.P. (Helping Empower Local People).

By the grace of Allah Ta’ala, the Jamiat KZN PROJECT H.E.L.P. relief team had the privilege to assist with fighting hunger at the impoverished Khanyanjalo Junior Primary School. The 61 year old school, which is located in an informal settlement in Inanda, 30km north of Durban, caters for grades RR to grade 5 and was in 2012 awarded the Premier’s Award for excellence in teaching and learning.

Alhamdo-Lillah, on Thursday 05th November 2015, the Jamiat KZN PROJECT H.E.L.P. relief team distributed approximately 1500 nutritious lunch packs to every single learner at the school.

The lunch pack consisted of a peanut butter sandwich served with a 250ml flavoured pure milk. To add some excitement for the children the packs also included a pen, a fancy clutch pencil and two lollipops. The Jamiat KZN PROJECT H.E.L.P. relief team members commented that is was heart-warming to see the joy and smiles on the children’s faces when they received the lunch packs.

We make dua that Allah Ta’ala accepts this humble effort, especially the contributions of our donors and the efforts of all involved, Aameen.
