Question and Answer:

Q. i just need to know if i issue 1talaaq rajee to my wife, and within the iddat period i do not retract the talaaq, will the nikah be terminated after her iddat?and if i have to stil maintain her during the iddat period?

(Question published as received)

A.  If the case of issuing one Raj’ee (revocable) divorce, the Nikah terminates if you do not take your wife back within the Iddah period and if you wish to reconcile thereafter, the Nikah will have to be renewed. You are obligated to provide maintenance for her during the Iddah period.

If you reconcile with her before her Iddah expires, it will not be necessary to renew the Nikah.
