Question and Answer:

  1. After completing Umrah and before coming out of the state of Ihraam, is it necessary for a male or female in the state of Ihraam to have their hair cut by a person out of the state of Ihraam? Or can male and female in the state of Ihraam cut each other’s hair? Or can their cut their own hair?

  1. After completing the rituals of Umrah, it is permissible for a male to shave (Halq) his hair and a female to cut/trim (Qasr) her hair by a person/Mahram in state of Ihraam or a person/Mahram out of the state of Ihraam. As such, male and female/Mahram may shave and cut/trim each other’s hair or they may shave and cut/trim their own hair after completing the rituals of Umrah. (Fataawa Mahmoodiyyah 15/424)
