The Welfare Department

The welfare department has probably continued to be the most active department of the Jamiatul Ulama KZN. Due to the present economic situation, the number of needy people are on the increase. Assistance rendered is in various forms viz. rent, light & water accounts, food vouchers, stationery, circumcisions, kitchen appliances and medical assistance. We rely solely on the Zakaah contributions from our Muslim community in order to fulfill these needs.

Approximately 500 people are attended to every month. Welfare cases are seen to Monday to Thursdays with only refugees being attended to every Thursday. Jamiatul Ulama (KZN) is among the few, if not the only, organization that caters for refugees. We also distribute clothing etc. which is forwarded to us by members of the Muslim community.
