(Question published as received)

A. Mainstream Shi’ahs hold beliefs that are totally un-Islamic and remove them from the fold of Islam. Although they claim to believe in Allah, they hold the corrupt belief that Ali (Radiyallahu Anhu) should have been the First Khalifa. Some of them even hold the absurd belief that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) was erroneously granted prophethood and Ali (Radiyallahu Anhu) was more deserving. They also hold the nonsensical belief that Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthmaan and the rest of the Sahabah besides a few (Radiyallahu Anhum Jamee’a) had turned Murtadd (apostates) after the demise of Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). From amongst the numerous corrupt beliefs that they hold, a few are:

a) They believe that the Qur’an has been distorted and incomplete and their twelfth Imam who is currently hiding in a cave has the original Qur’an and when the time is right, he will appear with it.

b) They believe in Mut’ah. A form of prostitution where a person marries a woman for a fixed period, e.g., one hour, one day, one week etc. for a sum of money and on the termination of that period, the Nikah terminates. They believe that such a practice holds great virtue.

c) They believe in Taqiyyah and Kitman. i.e., according to them, it is permissible, in fact, virtuous to deceive others that they are proper Muslims by lying to them about their beliefs etc. This is why when Shi’ahs are approached on issues concerning their beliefs, they will lie and pretend that their beliefs conform to the beliefs of Muslims in general. This is considered as “holy deception” by them and Muslims are cautioned to be wary of them.

The above are just a few of their corrupt beliefs and it is evident that people who hold such beliefs are Kaafirs and cannot be regarded as Muslims.
