Is ghusl necessary if a baby urinates or poos on a person?

Nasihah (Advice): Perform wudhu before sleeping when in the state of major impurity.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar Radiyallahu anhuma narrates that Umar bin Al-Khattab Radiyallahu anhu told Rasulullah Sallallahu alayhi wasallam, “I was in need of Ghusl (in the state of major impurity) at night.” Rasulullah Sallallahu alayhi wasallam replied, “Perform wudhu after washing your private parts and then sleep.” (Bukhari)

Question and Answer

  1. If a baby urinates or poos on you while bathing or changing them, do we need to make ghusl or take a shower to remove the impurity?

  1. The urine and stool of a baby are impure.

However, if it touches a person’s body, it does not necessitate Ghusl. One is only required to wash the messed portion. A ghusl or shower is not required. [Tahtaawi 1: 96]
