The month of Zul Hijjah is the last month on the Islamic calendar. The name of this month is synonymous with the great Ibaadah of Hajj. The other very significant Ibaadah that is carried out in this month is the Ibaadah of Udhiyyah (Qurabaani) which is among the great Sha’aa’ir (salient features) of Islam. Rasulullah (ﷺ) referred to it as the Sunnah of Ibraheem (alaihi salaam). Allah Ta’ala loved the sacrifice of Ibraheem (alaihi salaam) so, that He mentioned it in the Quraan and commanded Nabi (ﷺ) and his Ummah to continue this practice.
Rasulullah (ﷺ) himself was very active in practising this Sunnah and would ensure that he would conduct the Qurbani personally. In this day and age we are slowly moving away from this great Sunnah. People are finding it difficult to “mess” their homes and clothing with the blood of the Qurabaani animal, thus depriving themselves of great rewards.
This book was compiled in an effort to revive this great Sunnah. The style and approach adopted in preparing this booklet is similar to the sequence of the Fadhaail books written by Sheikhul Hadith Moulana Muhammad Zakriyyah Kandhlaawi (rahimahu allah)
This book commences with with Aayaat f the Quraan and Ahaadith of Rasulullah (ﷺ) with a brief explanation. A chapter on masaa’il has also been included at the end of the book, extracted form the famous kitaab “Bahishti Zewar” by Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi (rahimahu allah)
