Wearing Contact Lenses / Using Eyedrops while Fasting

Nasihah (Advice): The Du’a of a Fasting Person

Anas ibn Malik radiyallahu anhu reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “The supplications of three are not turned back: the supplication of a parent, the supplication of a fasting person, and the supplication of a traveler.” [Bayhaqi] ______________________________

Question and Answer:

Q. I use clear-tested contact lenses, please advise if it is permissible to use them while fasting in Ramadaan or fasting in general?

(Question published as received)

A. It is permitted to use contact lenses and use eyedrops while fasting. This will not affect the fast as the insertion of something onto/into the eye does not affect the fast. (Hindiyaah 1/203)
