Nasihah (Advice): Warning for neglecting Salaah
Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn ‘Amr radiyallahu anhu reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said, “Whoever protects Salaah [and is punctual in performing it], the Salaah will be a source of light, a proof and a means of salvation on the Day of Qiyamah. Whomsoever is [unmindful] and does not protect his Salaah, it will not be a source of light, nor a proof nor will it be a means of salvation. On the Day of Qiyamah, he will be with Qarun, Haman, Fir’awn and Ubayy ibn Khalaf.” [Musnad Ahmad]

Question and Answer:
- While reading salaah, we get to the Qa’dah (sitting) position before Salaam. The Imaam starts Salaam and ends his second Salaam while I’m still reading my durood; then I complete my Salaam. Is my salaah valid, as I have now ended my salaah after the Imaam?
- Your Salaah is valid. However, the correct procedure is that if you have completed your Tashahhud and are busy reciting Durood Ibrahim, and the Imaam makes Salaam, then you should follow the Imaam, make Salaam, and complete your Salaah.
However, if you are still busy with your Tashahud and the Imaam makes Salaam, then you will first complete your Tashahud and then make Salaam. (Raddul Muhtar 1/470)
