Operation Qurbani Malawi 🇲🇼 Report Back 2026/1447

On behalf of the Jamiatul Jamiatul Ulama KZN, South Africa we wish to express our deepest gratitude for your participation in the Qurbaani Project this year.

By the Grace of Allah Ta’ala, your Qurbani was carried out in the district of Chikwawa, Malawi, bringing immense relief and joy to an area where poverty and food insecurity are a daily reality.

Logistics and Shari’ah Compliance

The project was overseen by a dedicated team of Ulama to ensure the best operational standards.

Stringent Inspection

All animals were carefully vetted for age, health, and physical defects.

Timeline

The slaughtering and distribution were conducted over a period of two days.

Location

Operations were centered in Ngabu, situated approximately 100km from the city of Blantyre.

Project Reach and Statistics

The scale of this year’s distribution highlights the significant need within the Malawian rural interior:

Villages Reached: ± 43 Villages

Families Served: ± 9,000 Families

Total Beneficiaries: ± 40,000 Individuals

Efficiency

A pre-distribution token system was implemented, ensuring a streamlined and dignified process for all recipients.

Observations from the Field

The severity of the need in Chikwawa cannot be overstated. Beneficiaries travelled an average of 8 kilometres to reach distribution points, often waiting for hours. For many, this meat constitutes the only fresh protein they will consume for the entire year.

Priority was given to the most vulnerable, including widows, orphans, and the elderly. Special distributions were also made to hospital patients.

Furthermore, in keeping with the local customs and the value of the gift, every part of the animal was utilized by the indigenous people, ensuring zero waste of the Qurbani.

Conclusion

Your support has not only provided a nutritious meal to approximately 40,000 people but has also strengthened the bonds of brotherhood within the Ummah.

We beseech Allah Ta’ala to accept your Qurbani, to place barakah in your wealth and to reward you abundantly in both worlds, Ameen

We take this opportunity to thank all those who assisted in this project, both in Malawi and from South Africa.

Barakallahu feekum.

Jazakallahu Khayran,

Jamiatul Ulama KZN Qurbani Committee
