Braelyn Jaami Musjid was established in 2006. Moulana Moosa Olga realized that East London required a second Musjid and started the initiative. The property, which was a supermarket, was then purchased with the intention of it being converted into a Musjid.
Alhamdulillah, Braelyn Jaami Musjid has gone from strength to strength with many little renovations and alterations over time. The musjid hosts all five daily Salaah including Jumma, a fully functioning Maktab from grade one to ten, as well as facilities for jamaat locally and international Jamaats.
The Musjid has a capacity of roughly three hundred Musalees and services the surrounding areas of Braelyn, Amalinda, Panmure, Cambridge, Selborne & Vincent.
The population dynamic consists of mainly working-class people of lower to middle income. The day to day running cost is managed by donations and regular donors. Any additional projects are funded by special donations or collections.
Request for Inverter
The Musjid was experiencing great difficulty in in the running of the Musjid due to an increase in load shedding. A request was put forward to the Jamiatul Ulama KZN for assistance in installing an inverter system. The Jamiat Project H.E.L.P. team supported the initiative and contributed half the cost of this project. May Allah Ta’ala reward all those who contributed towards this noteworthy cause.
