Burial without Janaazah Salaah

Nasihah (Advice): A woman’s entry into Paradise

Sayyidatuna Abu Umaamah Radhiyallahu Anha reports: A woman came to Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam with two of her children, holding one and leading the other. Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said, “They carry children, give birth to them and are compassionate (to them). If they do not cause harm to their husbands, those among them who perform prayer will enter Paradise.” (Sunan Ibn Majah)

Question and Answer:

  1. A baby lived for only ten minutes and passed away. No Janaazah Salaah was performed. Can the Janaazah Salaah be performed by the grave?

  1. If the deceased was buried without Salaatul Janaazah being performed, then it is permissible to perform the Salaatul Janaazah at the grave site as long as the body has not begun to decompose and is still intact. This is generally taken to be three days but could differ due to soil composition and weather. [Hindiyyah 1: 165]
