Nasihah (Advice): Praise Allah whether the baby is a boy or girl
Kathir ibn Ubayd Rahimahullah reported: “If a child was born to anyone from the family of Sayyidatuna Aisha Radiyallahu Anha, she would not ask if it was a boy or a girl. Rather, she would ask, “Was it created healthy?” If the answer was yes, she would say, “All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.” [Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 1265]

Question and Answer:
- I would like to find out the Azaan guidelines to follow when a child is born. At the hospital, they do not give Ghusl to the child so the child will have to be given Ghusl at home. Can the Adhan and Iqaamah be given at the hospital without the Ghusl or should we wait until we get home give the child a Ghusl bath then call out the Adhan and Iqaamah?

- It is preferred to give the Azaan and Iqaamah after the ghusl is done. [Fataawa Mahmoodiyyah vol. 5 pg. 457]
However, if the ghusl is going to be delayed, then the Azaan and Iqaamah should be called out as soon as possible after birth so that the first words that the child hears are the words of Tawhid (the oneness of Allah Ta’ala) and Risaalah (the prophethood of Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam).
