Nasihah (Advice): Deliberate before making any commitments
Live your life in this world with moderation and always deliberate before making any commitment. In short, don’t bite off more than you can chew. Hasan al-Basri (Rahimahullah) said: “Beware of the commitments that you make in this world, for the world has a way of consuming a person. A person makes a commitment to one thing only to find himself involved in ten other commitments. (Hilyatul Awilya, Vol:2, Pg: 153)

Question and Answer:
- A Nikah was performed but the Mahr was not given. Is the Nikah valid?
(Query published as received)
A. If the Nikah was performed in compliance to the fundamental requirements for Nikah to be valid, the Nikah will be valid even though the Mahr was not exchanged at the time of the Nikah. Although the Mahr is obligatory upon the marriage being concluded, it is not a condition for the validity of the Nikah.
The husband remains obligated to provide the stipulated Mahr to his wife.
