Nasihah (Advice): As you give so shall you receive
Sayyidatuna Asmaa Radhiyallahu Anha reports that Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: “Give (in charity) and do not give reluctantly lest Allah should give you in a limited amount; and do not withhold your money lest Allah should withhold it from you.” (Sahih Bukhari)
Question and Answer:
- My late father contracted covid-19 and was hospitalized for 1 week until he passed on to the mercy of Allah at the hospital. He missed all his Salaah’s for 1 week as it was not possible for him to perform it due to his condition. What needs to be done to compensate for his missed Salaah’s in that state?
(Question published as received)
- The general rule is that if a person has an Islamic Will wherein provision is made for the executors to determine and compensate for any missed Salaah upon their demise, then the executors must ensure that the missed Fardh & Witr Salaah of the deceased are determined and compensated up to one third of the estate. In that case, the compensation (Fidyah) for each missed Salaah is R20.00 in KZN , South Africa.
However, in the case of a person being unable to perform Salaah i.e. the person is incapable of performing Salaah standing, sitting or lying down and one passes away in that condition, the missed Salaah will be waived and no Qadha or compensation is required for the Salaah missed in that condition.
