Jamiat KZN Ramadaan Message

Ramadaan Message

All Praise to Almighty Allah and the Choicest Salawaat and Salaam on our Noble Nabi Hazrat Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam.

We are fortunate indeed to once again witness the beautiful month of Ramadhan, the month of mercy, forgiveness, generosity, fasting, Barakah, Dua, Ibaadat, obedience, Taraweeh, Sehri and Iftaar. The month that heralds the arrival of the night of Laylatul Qadr, the atmosphere of good deeds and actions, the general feeling of brotherhood in the Ummah and so many other wonderful aspects. This is certainly an opportunity to maximise and capitalize on the unlimited, infinite treasures of our Nourisher and Sustainer, Allah Ta’ala. This is a month when the Divine Mercy is not raining, but pouring on the Ummah!

We take this opportunity to briefly apprise the Muslim community of some of the work the Jamiat is undertaking.

ISLAMIC LAW – FATWA DEPARTMENT: The Fatwa department attends to numerous queries by email and telephone daily. The Fatwa department also provides assistance in drawing up of Islamic wills as well as issuing certificates of distribution of estates. Mediation and Arbitration services are also provided. Important ‘Questions and Answers’ pertaining to Islamic practices are sent via email on a daily basis to thousands of recipients throughout the globe. Subscribe to this service by sending a request to newsletter@jamiat.org.za.

MARRIAGE REGISTRATIONS: The Jamiat has dedicated Marriage officers registered with the Department of Home Affairs at our office. Couples married according to Islamic Law who wish to have their marriages registered according to South African Law may contact our offices for further details.

COMMUNITY WELFARE: The Jamiat’s Welfare Department which is located in Victoria Street, Durban, sees to the needs of hundreds of households monthly, providing for essential requirements such as rentals, lights and water, rates, medical needs, and groceries, etc. Recipients are attended to daily at the office with careful screening and networking with other welfare bodies to avoid duplication and wastage of public funds.

LAUNCH OF PROJECT H.E.L.P.: In April 2015, the Jamiat launched its new local relief initiative called PROJECT H.E.L.P. (Helping Empower Local People). The aim of this project is to intensify our efforts to accomplish much more local welfare relief efforts amongst our fellow impoverished South Africans within our indigenous communities.

XENOPHOBIC VICTIMS RELIEFIn response to an appeal from the Mayor’s office, PROJECT H.E.L.P. undertook its first relief efforts in assisting xenophobic victims at the Isipingo Beach camp for refugees. In total, four relief operations were conducted the last of which took place on Thursday,  April 23rd, 2015. The Project H.E.L.P relief team provided a freshly prepared lunch to over 1200 displaced victims at the camp. Mattresses and blankets were also distributed to families that had just arrived at the camp.

QURANS FOR AFRICA PROJECT UPDATE: Alhamdulillah, on Friday, 22nd May 2015, 3800 Qurans were dispatched from our offices to Malawi. These Qurans will be distributed in Masaajid/Makaatib across 140 towns/villages in Malawi. Donors are requested to kindly note that as we currently have sufficient funds for the Quran project, we are not taking any donations until further notice for this particular project.

SYRIAN REFUGEE RELIEF RAMADAAN 2015: As the Syrian conflict enters its fifth year, millions of refugees are caught in alarmingly deteriorating conditions, facing an even bleaker future.  The Jamiat is embarking on a collection drive to distribute food this Ramadaan to Syrian families on the Turkish-Syrian Border. The Jamiat has completed successful Syrian Relief distributions in the Ramadaans of 2013 and 2014. The Jamiat KZN Relief team will be travelling to the border areas to distribute the aid in Ramadaan, Insha-Allah.

Cost per food carton (approx 21kg) is R500.00.
