1) I live in a part of the uk it is quiet there is a town nearby but it is not a city and recently a shop got robbed I was thinking maybe it is best as a precaution to get a guard dog to look after the house to keep watch in my area it is illegal to keep a dog outside in the front garden as it is intimidating to people but it can be kept in the back garden is this ok as long as I bring him food and water and train him to guard is there anything wrong in taking it for a walk so he can exercise I ask because a dog does need exercise to maintain its health otherwise it will get ill or turn destructive
2) in hanafi fiqh it says it is permitted to sell guard dogs and herding dogs can you explain to me please why in our madhaab this is allowed I am confused because of the hadith in bukhari where it says the prophet sall Allahu alayhi wasalam prohibtied the price of a dog.
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
- It is permissible to keep a dog for safety and security reasons. You may make the dog do exercise to maintain its health. However, walking the dog is regarded to be a hobby of non muslims. That should be avoided.
- The hadith prohibiting the proceeds of the sale of dogs refer to pet dogs, not security dogs or hunting dogs.
