Nasihah (Advice): – Points to consider when naming a child (part 2):
The trend of keeping unique and fancy names amongst the Muslim community has become increasingly common. In many instances, it has been noticed that the meaning of the name isn’t pleasant or the name fails to give the person an Islamic identity. Upon hearing such names, one is in doubt whether the person is a Muslim or non-Muslim. It is advisable to give preference to the names Prophets, Sahabah and Sahabiyyaat. It is also important to always verify the name with an Alim before keeping the name. In many instances, it has been noticed that the meanings on the internet are inaccurate.
Q. Generally at hotels and holiday resorts, toiletries like little bars of soap and miniature bottles of shampoos are made available for those lodging at the hotel. Is it permissible to take these toiletries out of the hotel for ones personal use?
(Query published as received)
A. If there is an understanding between the client and the hotel management that these toiletries can be used and taken as one pleases then it will be permissible. However, the safest procedure is to enquire from management.
