Project H.E.L.P – July 2020 Report

During the month of July 2020, the Jamiatul Ulama KZN Welfare, Project H.E.L.P & Skills Development Centre (S.D.C) have been working together to empower and uplift families and individuals who have been financially affected during the Covid-19 Lockdown. Alhamdulillah, various forms of assistance were rendered such as goods to resell, sewing machines and job placements.

During these extremely cold nights, poor and underprivileged families living in informal settlements face the challenge of keeping warm with makeshift fires. Due to the close proximity of the dwellings, fires spread quickly and many homes are destroyed, leaving destitute families already struggling in deeper financial crisis. The Project H.E.L.P Team together with Human Aid distributed blankets, mattresses, water and food hampers to victims of the Burnwood Road fire.

The Jamiatul Ulama KZN as part of its Winter Warmth Drive visited Roseville Informal Settlement, Tholimfundo Primary School and St Patricks Primary School in Umzinto on the South Coast of KZN. Blankets were distributed to poor residents of the area and winter warmth packs were distributed to learners.

On the 26th of July 2020 a fire broke out at the Rajkumar Informal Settlement in Tongaat whereby five homes were gutted, affecting 5 families. Upon receiving an appeal from a concerned Tongaat Resident and Samaritan Alhamdullilah the Jamiatul Ulama KZN Project H.E.L.P Team swiftly responded with Mattresses, Blankets, Clothing and Food Hampers. Seeing the plight of residents in the area, it was decided to distribute loaves of fresh bread and tinned baked beans to the 2200 residents. Alhamdulillah, with the assistance of dedicated volunteers and well-wishers the Jamiatul Ulama KZN Project H.E.L.P Team distributed the bread and canned beans, which was received with much appreciation and jubilation. The smiles and duas received by recipients is a priceless gift.

The Jamiatul Ulama KZN strives to empower and uplift the underprivileged and appreciates the support of our donors and well-wishers. May Allah Ta’ala grant ease and comfort to all those in difficulty and barakah to our volunteers and donors.
