PROJECT H.E.L.P. – QUARRY HEIGHTS BABIES CRECHES

2 min read

The Jamiatul Ulama KZN PROJECT H.EL.P.  Relief Team recently visited the area of Quarry Heights, a low cost housing settlement with most houses no larger than 20m2 and having just one toilet and one water tap connection.

Although roads in the area are tarred with street lighting, some households do not have motor vehicle access.  Instead, there are long-cemented pedestrian passages running between rows of houses that are so closely located to each other that there is not enough space for children to play.

During this visit, the Team discovered two informal babies’ crèches, the Sizabantu and Sunshine crèches.  The crèches cater for children between 3 months to 4 years old.  Despite their facilities being very poor, they offer a necessary but cheap service for most of the mothers employed as domestic workers. The one crèche even had no access to municipal water supply.

Alhamdulillah, by the Grace of Allah Ta’ala on 25th April 2018 to assist them in taking better care of the babies, the team delivered to both crèches the following items in bulk:

  • Milk formula
  • Pureed bottled food
  • Cereal
  • Nappies
  • Blankets
  • Clothing
  • Mattresses
  • Educational toys
  • Bottled water (5L)

Over the forthcoming days, the team will be monitoring the usage of these items.

May Allah Ta’ala use our humble efforts as a means of attracting them towards Islam and may He accept the contributions of our donors and the efforts of all involved, Aameen.
