Project H.E.L.P – Winter Warmth Report #2

Durban is currently experiencing a cold winter as temperatures continue dropping throughout South Africa. There are many underprivileged families in homeless shelters and informal settlements who are without the basic necessities to keep warm.

On Thursday 18th June 2020, the Jamiatul Ulama KZN Project H.E.L.P team visited the Warwick Avenue area after receiving a request from a sister who runs a soup kitchen & assists the needy in the area. Alhamdulillah, the team distributed blankets, mattresses & warm jerseys to families in need.

The distribution was done in conjunction with Circle of Care Association (C.O.C.A) and a local Muslim bakery. Each person received a blanket, mattress, food hamper and a plush jersey. Alhamdulillah, the recipients expressed great appreciation for this thoughtful gesture. The team thereafter visited Dirkie Uys Primary School in the Bluff area and distributed winter warmth packs to the grade 7 pupils.

On Thursday 25th June 2020, the Project H.E.L.P Team responded to an appeal for mattresses at the Lower Illovo region.

The Jamiatul Ulama KZN Winter Warmth Project will be an ongoing project over the next few months Insha’Allah. Anyone wishing to contribute towards this project and other beneficial projects may donate using the following banking details:
