Helping Empower Local People
Charity Begins At Home
Alhamdo-Lillah, the Jamiatul Ulama KZN in response to an appeal from the Mayor’s office launched its new local upliftment initiative called PROJECT H.E.L.P. last Friday night, the 10th April, at the Isipingo Beach Grounds. The JUKZN relief team provided aid to the victims of the recent xenophobic attacks that occurred in the Isipingo CBD area.
Almost 300 foreign nationals who fled their homes and businesses are being accommodated in tents on the grounds. The JUKZN relief team provided a freshly prepared hot meal, drinks, snacks and warm hats to the victims which included men, women and children of all faiths. The victims, predominantly from Burundi, Congo and Malawi are being housed by the local municipality.
The JUKZN team was very warmly received and the aid provided was much appreciated by the victims, many of whom have lost almost all their belongings.
PROJECT H.E.L.P. will be an ongoing project undertaken at schools, orphanages, old age homes, homeless shelters and where emergency relief is required.
Assistance rendered will be in the form of:
· Self-empowerment initiatives
· Feeding schemes
· Distribution of hampers, clothing, blankets, etc.
We humbly request all to make dua that Allah Ta’ala grant success to this new initiative.
