Qadha of missed Salaah when travelling

Nasihah (Advice): Virtue of performing salaah at the beginning of its prescribed time

Sayyidah Umm Farwah Radiyallahu anha narrates,

“Rasulullah () was asked: ‘Which deed is the best?’ He replied: ‘Salaah in the beginning of its time.'” (Tirmidhi)

Question and Answer

  1. I just want to enquire about the Qadha of missed Salaah when travelling for a holiday away from home.

  1. A Muslim is obligated to perform the five daily Salaah at their appointed times. Neglecting this duty is considered a major sin.

Any Salaah that was missed while travelling and had to be performed with Qasr (two in place of four for Zuhr, Asr, and Esha) will be performed in the same way (as two Rakaats) when making Qadha for them.

As for Fajr, Maghrib, and Witr, they remain full during travelling and will be performed in full if they were missed.

If a Salaah was missed while not travelling, its Qadha must be performed in its complete form, even if the Qadha is performed while travelling. (Tahtaawi 428)
