Nasihah (Advice): Eat from the meat of the sacrificed animal
Sulaiman bin Buraidah Rahimahullah narrates from his father that Rasulullah (ﷺ) said: “I used to prohibit you from (eating) the meat of Sacrifice beyond three days so that those who have the ability would give to those who do not have it. So (now) eat as you like, feed others, and save from it.” (Tirmidhi)

Question and Answer
- What does one do if they missed slaughtering on the day of Eid?
- A. The time to perform Qurbani is from the 10th of Zul-Hijjah after Eid Salaah until the sunset of the 12th of Zul-Hijjah.
Accordingly, if one did not perform Qurbani on the Day of Eid (10 Zul-Hijjah), they may still perform Qurbani on the 11th and 12th of Zul Hijjah.
After the sunset of the 12th of Zul-Hijjah, the time for Qurbani ends.
If Qurbani was compulsory on a person and it was not performed in the prescribed time then must compensate by giving the value of a live Qurbani animal in charity. If a Qurbani animal was already purchased, then one has the option of giving the live Qurbani animal in charity or retaining the animal and giving its value. (Shaami 6: 320)
N.B. Donating the live animal in this context means giving the living animal to deserving individuals, who can then decide how to utilize it. It does not refer to the act of slaughtering the animal and distributing its meat as charity.
