Saahib-ut-Tarteeb

Nasihah (Advice): Angels descend to record your Prayers

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah radiyallahu anhu reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “A group of Angels stay with you by night and another group of Angels by day. They meet together at the time of afternoon prayer and dawn prayer, then those who stayed with you ascend to the heavens. Allah asks them, although He knows better than them: How did you leave My servants? The Angels say: We left them while they were praying and we came to them while they were praying.” [Sahih Bukhari]

Question and Answer:

  1. What does Saahib-ut-Tarteeb mean?

(Question published as received)

  1. A ‘Saahib-ut-Tarteeb’ refers to a person who has missed less than 6 Salaah. The ruling for such a person is that it is compulsory to make Qadha of any missed Salaah before performing the current Fardh Salaah. They may not perform the current Fardh Salaah until they make Qadha of all missed Salaah.

If however, a person forgets to make Qadha of the missed Salaah and performs the current Fardh Salaah, the Salaah performed will be valid.

Additionally, if the Salaah time is about to lapse and the current Fardh Salaah will be missed if one engages in Qadha then one may perform the current Fardh Salaah and perform the Qadha Salaah thereafter. (Al-Bahrur-Raaiq 2/86)
