Q. Mufti sahab …. i would like to know if a person passes wind just before he/she makes the second salaam ie after making the 1st salaam …. if his salaah has to be performed again according to hannifi fiqh

A. According to the Hanafi Madh-hab, both Salaams are wajib but the first Salaam terminates the Salaah. Therefore, if a person has to break his Wudhu after the first Salaam before saying the second Salaam, his Salaah will be complete but deficient. If the time for that Salaah has not expired, it is Wajib on him to repeat the Salaah. If the time has expired, the Salaah does not have to be repeated but it is advisable that he should ask Allah for forgiveness for the deficiency in his Salaah.
