Significance of Burying nails & hair

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Allah Ta’ala has made the human body sacred. Allah Ta’ala says:

وَلَقَدْ كَرَّمْنَا بَنِي آدَمَ وَحَمَلْنَاهُمْ فِي الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ وَرَزَقْنَاهُمْ مِنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَفَضَّلْنَاهُمْ عَلَى كَثِيرٍ مِمَّنْ خَلَقْنَا تَفْضِيلًا (الإسراء -70)

We have honoured the sons of Adam; provided them with transport on land and sea; given them for sustenance things good and pure; and conferred on them special favours, above a great part of our creation. 

The hair and nails are also parts of the human body. They should be treated with care and disposed of in a correct manner. The preferred method of disposing one’s hair and nails is to bury them.[1]

Furthermore, burying one’s hair and nails is a precautionary measure which prevents the hair and nails from being collected and used for Sihr (black magic). One should take care and not be negligent when disposing the hair and nails.
