The Victory of the Taliban – Jamiatul Ulama KZN Statement

A Blow to Western Imperialism and a Victory for Islam

Allah has promised those of you who believe and do righteous deeds that He will surely bestow power on them in the land as He bestowed power on those that preceded them; and that He will firmly establish their religion which He has been pleased to choose for them, and He will replace with security the state of fear that they are in. (Quran 24:55)

20 years ago, the US made an ill-conceived decision to invade Afghanistan and destroy the Taliban. Now, 20 years later, the US has made a hasty retreat from the very land they invaded. Mainstream media broadcasted images of the US army abandoning equipment, military gear, vehicles and infrastructure valued at billions of dollars!

In the recent wake of the Taliban’s peaceful reclamation of Afghanistan, the utter failure of the US military and its allies is glaring. While they have failed in their objective of eradicating the Taliban, they have been hugely successful in creating a mountain of corpses (over two hundred thousand dead including almost a hundred thousand civilians) and inflicting untold misery and grief on the lives of millions of innocent men, women and children.

The fact of the matter is that Allah Ta’ala has granted victory to the Taliban. It has been 20 long years of adversity, but they remained steadfast with one objective in mind; to stand against the enemies of our Deen and to once again raise the flag of Islam.

The Taliban faced foreign invaders with vast amounts of funding and boasting superior military and technological power. Internally, they faced resistance from the Northern Alliance, which was strongly supported by the Afghan Shia population and backed by Iran. Yet all the means and stratagems of man are insignificant in front of the power of Allah, the Almighty.

When Allah Ta’ala wills a thing to happen, it will happen and nothing can stop it.

The witnessing of a peaceful takeover of Afghanistan has bewildered the retreating invaders and left spectators from around the globe dumbfounded. The pro-western Afghan government and army, on which billions were spent, stood powerless in the face of the Taliban’s advance. Hardly a token sign of resistance was shown and the Afghan army along with their leader retreated.

Contrary to the propaganda narrative, law and order have been upheld and no harm to the life and property of civilians has occurred. The Taliban have shown respect and dignity to the Afghan population as is the requirement of Islamic teaching.

The Western media is now in a frenzy in their attempts to vilify the Taliban. We could not expect anything different, but it is disconcerting and disappointing to note the number of Muslims who have bought into their propaganda.

The victory of the Taliban is a moment of rejoicing and jubilation for all Muslims. It is the victory of those whose wish is to establish Islam and against those whose wish is to destroy it. While the road ahead will be tough and challenges will be inevitable, we commend the leaders and soldiers of the Taliban for raising the flag of Islam in a land they fought so ardently and bravely for.

We beseech Allah, the Almighty, as You have given victory to the Taliban today, grant them the ability to uphold Your Commandments and govern their country in accordance to Your Will. May Allah Ta’ala grant peace, prosperity and happiness to Afghanistan and its people and make this land a source of pride and joy for the Muslim Ummah, Ameen Yaa Rabbal Aalameen.
