Nasihah (Advice): The Dua of a Fasting Person

Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik radiyallahu anhu reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “The supplications of three are not rejected: the supplication of a parent, the supplication of a fasting person and the supplication of a traveller.” [Bayhaqi]

Question and Answer:

  1. How long is it permissible for a woman to delay making up the missed fasts of Ramadhan due to menses or Nifaas? Is there any time limit? Kindly advise

  1. A. There is no time frame for a female to complete the missed fasts of Ramadaan. However, the Fuqaha state that after Ramadaan, she should start making up for the missed fasts of Ramadaan and try to complete them as soon possible.

She is permitted to complete them one after the other all at once or one at a time according to what is convenient for her.

Some Ulama advise that a woman should try to complete her missed fasts prior to the commencement of the next Ramadaan which is also said to be the habit of Sayyidatuna A’aisha Radhiyallahu Anha. [Hindiyyah 1/40 – Mabsoot 3/77 – Al-Inaayah 2/354]
