Nasihah (Advice): The Virtue of Performing a Sajdah Tilaawah
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira radiyallahu anhu reported that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasllam) said, “When the son of Adam recites a verse of prostration and he prostrates, Shaitaan withdraws and he weeps and he says: Woe to me! The son of Adam was commanded to prostrate and he prostrated, so he will go to Paradise. I was commanded to prostrate and I refused, so I will go to Hellfire.” [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim]

Question and Answer:
- What is the correct method of performing Sajdah Tilaawat out of Salaah?
(Question published as received)
- The procedure of Sajdah Tilaawat out of Salaah is as follows: It must be performed in the state of Wudhu.
- One will begin in the standing position and say: ‘Allahu Akbar’ without raising the hands
- Go straight down into Sajdah
- Read ‘Subhaana Rabbiyal A’ala’ three times
- Arise from Sajdah whilst saying: ‘Allahu Akbar’.
There is no Salaam after standing up. Although it is better to begin and end this Sajdah from a standing position, it is also correct to commence and terminate it from the Jalsa (sitting) position. [Maraaqil Falaah 498]
The above-mentioned method may be followed for multiple Sajdah Tilaawah as well by standing after each Sajdah or sitting in the Tashahhud position before going to the next Sajdah. [Aap Ke Masaa’il Aur Unka Hal 4/232]
