Nasihah (Advice): The intercession of forty people
Abdullah ibn Abbas Radiyallahu Anhuma reported: “If a Muslim passes away and a group of forty people, who do not associate any one with Allah, pray for him, Allah will accept their intercession for him (by way of their Dua for him).” [Sahih Muslim]

Question and Answer:
- Please advise whom should give Ghusl amongst family for females. If a female member is part of the Ghusl group is it correct of her to stop other members of the family from assisting in Ghusl saying she has her team?
- It is preferred that those who perform the Ghusl (bathe the body) should be from the close family of the deceased.
As long as the said family members are trustworthy (in the sense that they will not reveal anything negative about the deceased if witnessed) and can correctly perform the Ghusl, it would be incorrect to prevent them from doing so.
Being part of the Ghusl committee does not accord a person preference over suitable family members. However, if the family members are not suitable then the members of the Ghusl committee will be given preference. [Hindiyyah 1: 159]
