Nasihah (Advice): A scent more pleasant than musk
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radiyallahu anhu reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “The smell which is emitted from the mouth of a fasting person is more pleasant to Allah than the scent of musk.” [Sunan Tirmidhi]

Question and Answer:
- Q. What is the Intention or Dua for fasting?

- An intention is an act of the heart. Thus if one has the intention in the heart for fasting, this is sufficient.
It is not required to verbally say the intention though doing so has been recommended by some Ulama. (Shaami 2/380)
If a person wishes to verbalise it, one may say,
اَللّٰهُمَّ اَصُوْمُ غَدًا لَكَ فَاغْفِرْلِيْ
Allahumma asumu ghadan laka faghfirlee
We are unaware of a specific Sunnah Dua for commencing the fast.
