Alhamdulillah, on Tuesday 26th March 2019, the Jamiatul Ulama Project H.E.L.P team visited the Wentworth hospital and Pinetown SASSA office as part of Operation Hydration. We have thus far distributed over 600 bottles of drinking water.
The recipients are from various nationalities and religious backgrounds. They were ever so grateful and gave us prayers in their respective languages upon receiving water as they wait for long periods of time to be attended to. Whilst visiting the Wentworth area, selected underprivileged families were identified by a well-wisher and hampers were distributed to these families.
Xenophobia Relief / Social Unrest Relief
After Zuhr Salaah, the team visited victims of the xenophobic attacks from the Burnwood area that are currently displaced and housed at the Sydenham police station. Approximately 60 hampers including bottled water & canned food were distributed to the victims. We received news of a further 25 refugees sheltered at a Masjid in the Overport area, who were also provided with a hamper consisting of water, food and a fresh loaf of bread.
We express our gratitude to Almighty Allah Ta’ala for affording us the opportunity of serving His creation as well as our donors for their generous contributions at such short notice.
Persons who wish to participate as volunteers in such social outreach projects should contact the Jamiatul Ulama KZN offices or the Project Help Coordinator, Hafiz Bilaal Jeewa on 084 61 78692.
