Syria Relief Update – July 2017

Alhamdullilah, by the infinite Grace of Allah Ta’ala, the Jamiatul Ulama KwaZulu-Natal has been assisting the Syrian Refugees since 2013 and various Projects have been successfully completed. Since the beginning of 2017, the Jamiat KZN currently maintains 3 Orphanages for Syrian refugees in Turkey, the Firdaus, Sakan and Hums Orphanages, two in Rayhanli and one in Hatay close to the Syrian border.

In an effort to further intensify its relief efforts to the Syrian refugees, the Jamiatul Ulama KZN relief team departed Durban for Turkey on Monday 03rd July 2017 (08th Shawwaal 1438).  Apart from inspecting the above orphanages, the team distributed aid to the orphanages and to Syrian Refugee families in the region.

The Jamiat KZN team first visited various refugee homes, children’s’ homes and Madaris/schools for the Syrian children. The importance attached to Deeni education/Makatib for the Syrian children living in Turkey is very impressive.

Various grocery items, dates, toiletries, nappies and basic necessities were distributed. Toy packs were distributed at every visit, which were received with smiles of joy by the orphans.

Many reports by the Syrian families were shared with our team regarding the horrors of the attacks on the Syrian people. May Allah Ta’ala remove the pain and suffering of our Syrian Brothers and Sisters and bring peace and stability to their country once again, Ameen.

On the final day 8th July 2017, the Jamiat team completed its distribution. Food/grocery boxes, diapers, fans and 450l fridge/freezers were distributed at Sanliurfa. These items were distributed at a community centre and delivered to many homes as well, especially the elderly and wounded.

We thank our donors who through their kind contributions alleviate the plight and suffering of our Syrian Brothers and Sisters, and bring some relief to the pain and hardship they are enduring both in Syria and as Refugees outside their country.

Our 3 Orphanage Projects will continue to operate inshallah and we appeal to you to contribute to this most worthy cause, which is overseen and maintained by the Jamiat in partnership with the IHH.
