Which Location’s Sehri Time Applies When Travelling?

Nasihah (Advice): A scent more pleasant than musk

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radiyallahu anhu reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “The smell which is emitted from the mouth of a fasting person is more pleasant to Allah than the scent of musk.” [Sunan Tirmidhi]

Question and Answer:

  1. We will be traveling via Doha, arriving there at 5:30 AM, with a two-hour layover before continuing on to Madinah.

My question is: While en route to Madinah, should I follow the Sehri (Suhoor) time of Doha or that of Madinah?

(Question published as received)

  1. You should follow the Sehri (Suhoor) time of the location where you are physically present at the time of Sehri.

If you are in Doha at the time of Sehri, then you will follow the Sehri time of Doha and begin your fast accordingly. Once you are traveling onward, you will continue your fast based on the timings of the location you are in at each stage of your journey. [Aap Ke Masaa’il 3/304]
