On Thursday 26th March 2020, South Africa was placed under lockdown due to the Covid-19 Virus, which meant all non essential businesses were shut down and citizens were instructed to remain in their residences for 21 days.
The national lockdown required Masaajid and places of worship to be closed for normal congregation. We make dua Allah Ta’ala the Most Beneficial the Most Merciful, to protect us and grant shifa to those afflicted by this virus.
In preparation for the national lockdown the Jamiatul Ulama KZN Project H.E.L.P team embarked on a food hamper and hygiene pack distribution to the Musjid Custodians, the Muazzins and Cemetery Workers.
Alhamdulillah, in coordination with the NMJ Islamic Trust, food hampers and hygiene packs were distributed prior to the lockdown to the outer suburbs of Durban, Chatsworth and Phoenix.
On Saturday 28th March 2020 (day 2 of the lockdown) the team resumed distribution of food hampers and hygiene packs in the Durban and surrounding areas.
The Jamiatul Ulama KZN will be carrying out various distribution projects for the underprivileged and informal areas during the National Lockdown, with authorisation from the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA).
We ask the community to contribute to this worthy cause and keep the Jamiatul Ulama KZN relief teams in your duas.
