Project H.E.L.P  June & July Report

Report Back: JUKZN Riot Relief Project

The recent unrest and riots in KZN left a large number of people stranded and having to queue for food and other essentials.

Alhamdulillah, our Project H.E.L.P team managed to coordinate much needed help and support in the form of basic necessities for thousands of families in KwaZulu-Natal.

Truckloads of much needed essentials was donated by the generous Muslim communities of Johannesburg, which was received and despatched from the Westville Jaame and Soofie Masjids.

Together with this, an aircraft consisting of basic essentials, baby necessities and other much needed items was also received from Johannesburg.

The Jamiat KZN also facilitated immediate food relief to households in the following areas:

  • Tongaat
  • Shallcross
  • Cliffdale
  • Verulam
  • Hillgrove (Newlands)
  • Bonela
  • Reservoir Hills
  • Isipingo
  • Amanzimtoti
  • Richards Bay
  • North Beach

Approximately 3 800 hampers were distributed, with priority being given to areas affected by the looting and where people had no access to food.

We take this opportunity to express our gratitude to one and all who assisted in which ever way possible. Your reward is with Allah Ta’ala insha’Allah!
