Following up on its local outreach projects at two babies’ crèches in Quarry Heights, the Jamiat KZN Project H.E.L.P. team discovered another community based babies’ crèche with over 130 children, the Khanya Edu-Care Centre in Newlands West. The crèche is located in the most disadvantaged area of the suburb surrounded by low-cost Reconstruction and Development Programme (RDP) houses and serves as a community centre as well.
Alhumdulillah, by the Grace of Allah Ta’ala, on Thursday 10 April 2018, the team began the distribution with the following babies’ items donated in bulk to the crèche:
- Toys
- Clothing
- Blankets
- Disposable nappies, and
- Pureed bottled food
This was followed by a direct distribution to the babies’ mothers and grandmothers, most of whom are unemployed and single parents. The following items were distributed to each adult:
- Food hampers (neatly packed in a reusable bucket)
- Hygiene packs, and
- Blankets
During the above distribution, whilst interacting with the community the team also went around distributing sweets to every child.
The team concluded the outreach programme with a freshly prepared hot lunch served with bottled water.
Alhumdulillah, the team manged to feed over 200 persons, which included both adults and children.
May Allah Ta’ala use our humble efforts as a means of attracting them towards Islam and may He accept the contributions of our donors and the efforts of all involved, Aameen.
